KOHANGA REO EARLY CHILDKHOOD CENTRE / MANUREWA
This project involved removing an existing house from the adjacent section and prepping the site for a new build
The new building/whare is surrounded by extensive decks and a large covered roof between the buildings that
allow the children to play in all conditions.
The existing two buildings were completely renovated into new learning spaces, office & staffroom and toilet facilities. This not only creates new spaces for the tamakiri but with the addition of planning areas for the teachers the children will all benefit from the spaces created.
This new Kohanga Reo will provide an exciting, vibrant learning environment for the children and it will complete the vision of the whanau .
We first engaged with Euan from MDB Builders back in August 2019, once we had received building consent for our Kōhanga Reo renovation. From the get go we knew we were in safe hands due to his professionalism and experience within this field.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 and other matters it was not until a further nine (9) months before we would be able to proceed with construction. Monday 25 May 2020, was when we commenced on what would be the most stressful, and nerve racking twelve months (12) anyone of us had imagined. However, through it all Euan and his team made the entire process seamless and as enjoyable as possible.
Having had next to no experience within this line of work, I myself was not sure what capacity I would take on board as Project Manager. However, I must say it was one of the best experiences, and I truly believe it came down to Euan and his high expertise within the construction industry. I personally gained so much knowledge and appreciation for all the work that put into our project by MBD Builders, that I could not imagine having had the same outcome had we gone with another outfit. Many a time they would go beyond what was needed to ensure each element of our build was not only completed, but also completed to a high standard – we truly are grateful to have been taken care of so well by Euan and his team.
Looking back over the entire build process, the attention to detail, the constant updates and check-ins, we never felt out of the loop nor in the dark of any stage of the project. In addition, that comes down to Euan and his incredible work ethic, which echoed throughout all who work alongside and with him.
So again, from the entire whānau and myself here at Te Atawhai Kōhanga Reo – thank you, thank you, thank you to Euan and the team of MBD Builders. Who with pure perseverance and grit, helped turn our ten-year dream into reality.
Ano ra, nui te aroha me te tautoko hoki kia koutou te whānau o MBD Builders.
